History
Kelley Trucking Inc. is a heavy civil contractor specializing in the construction of dams, airports, highways, development and reclamation of gravel pits, production water storage ponds, overlot grading, aggregate production, demolition, and hauling. We are licensed, insured, and bonded with a single project bonding capacity in excess of $100 million. For over 5 decades we have worked to structure our company with the sole purpose of providing our clients with excellence in earthmoving.
In 1973, just out of high school, John Kelley founded Kelley Trucking Inc. John started the business with one tractor-trailer, along with his wife Dottie, has grown it into one of the largest earthmoving contractors in the Rocky Mountain region. Our equipment fleet has over 70 scrapers, including a fleet of Cat 657E scrapers. The twin engine 657 scraper is the largest wheel tractor scraper produced by Caterpillar. In addition to our Cat 657’s, our fleet includes Cat 627, 631, 633 and 623 scrapers. We have a complete fleet of support equipment including Cat D10, D9, D8, and D6 dozers, articulated tractors and discs, articulated trucks and water trucks, water wagons, and blades.
John has overseen all aspects of the company including safety, bidding, equipment coordination/maintenance, business development, and project management. John’s hands-on approach, attention to detail, hard work, drive and determination have helped Kelley Trucking Inc. to amass a fleet of over 400 pieces of equipment and employ over 200 people.
John developed a company culture focused on Safety, Quality and Production, in that priority. Now in its second generation, the culture John and Dottie cultivated continues to drive company success.
In 2011, John received the Colorado Construction Pioneer Award from the Colorado Contractors Association for his “leadership, dedication of service and contribution to the Heavy/Highway/Utility Construction Industry in Colorado.”
